A Boundary Survey is a process carried out by a Professional Land Surveyor to determine property lines and define the true boundary of a parcel of land as described in a deed.
A deed may only provide a vague description of a property, making it necessary to perform a proper field instrument Boundary Survey of the perimeter along with a comparative analysis of the record information. A plan showing the boundary along with an updated deed, can be recorded at the Registry of Deeds or simply kept by the client for their own records.
A Boundary Survey does not necessarily include staking out the property line.
